Now available in titanium gold flavour (but still no EVF)

I received my copy today - when I first saw the Japanese announcement for it, it was something that I wished was available elsewhere. I had already got a S9 but when Panasonic introduced the camel orange version, I had thought that if a new variant really caught my eye over here, I could see myself getting it.

The camera itself is absolutely gorgeous and don’t think photos (or videos!) can do it complete justice - partly how the titanium gold looks in different light. The leatherette complements it beautifully. I always thought it looked good, but my expectations were truly exceeded.

Although I had heard that the plastic was smooth and lacked the textured finish of the standard black model, this still came as a surprise when handling. The symbols on the mode dial are less obvious than the standard white on black; I don’t feel this really affects usability, especially when one is used to the dial order and it looks very stylish.

The titanium gold looks really good on the 18-40mm and although I wasn’t convinced by someone posting on Reddit that there should be other lenses with the same colouring, I’ve changed my mind.

The rope strap is a great inclusion. The colour complements the camera and feels very high quality. I wasn’t quite sure how long it was exactly was but the length means it’s only suitable for wearing around your neck (and not crossbody) and practical for wrapping around the wrist. The standard strap is also included - I think I had read this on a product page but it went something I expected.

The thank you note wasn’t something I was fussed about but I actually like it more than I thought. It’s a nice message (English on one side and Japanese on the other) and very nicely produced.

The stickers - or rather how they contained in a plastic bag with folded cardboard stapled across the opening - was not well presented and for me, felt rather cheap. I think I would have preferred them loose or in an envelope or something like that. I can understand why they only included the metal pin in the press packs, but it’s something that I think was a pity and would have been a much more elegant inclusion than the stickers.
