Samyang working with Schneider Kreuznach is a game changer. Looking forward to seeing this and future lenses.

This certainly looks interesting. If it's not too expensive and performs well then I'd like it instead of the adapted Tamron 70-210mm f/4 and it looks like it might be small enough for travel too.

Looks like the 14-24 for L-Mount will be revealed sometime in the next few days. This plugs an existing hole in L-Mount: a fast 14-24 zoom that isn’t super heavy and/or requires special filters, like the Sigma Art.

With my luck, they will release the 60-180, I will buy it, and one month later Pana will release the same focal length, 200 EUR more expensive, but much better...

More likely 800€ more expensive.

Whatever. The non-Panasonic lenses in L-mount are great and cheaper.

But they also lack support for some funktions like cropless stabilisation and AF focus ring functions

Good to see of course but ultra-wide zooms is one of the few areas where the L-mount is relatively well served.

They also offer the Samyang 35-150mm f/2-2.8 AF Lens. Hopefully, they will port more of their designs over to L-mount.

If I were in the market now for an UWA zoom, I'd look at this very seriously. Its size and weight are really great for an f2.8 14-24. Price is reasonable too - £850 in the UK.

Interesting you would say that. While I agree we have some good “mid-range” options in the 16-35/14-28/16-28, L-mount has been underserved in terms of fast UW zooms with top-tier optics that are wider than 16mm. Until now, the only L-mount lens that fills that bill is the Sigma 14-24 Art. But it’s big & expensive, and can’t use circular filters. So, the Samyang fills a real hole there.

And even then, we still don’t have any good 12-24 options. OK, the Venus Optics is OK, but it’s optics are bit questionable and it’s slow. So we still have a need for a good variable-aperture 12-24 and a 12-24 F2.8.

I wonder if this lens's small size is due to good optical and mechanical design or heavy use of digital correction.

According to Dustin Abbott’s review, the Samyang does have a lot of distortion on the wide end, and it’s complex. From what I can see in his examples vs. what I get from my Sigma (which is far from perfectly corrected), the Samyang has considerably more distortion on the wide end.
