Coming & going. Heading south a few miles southeast of downtown Portland. One of the trains in residence at the Oregon Rail Heritage Museum.

Friday's sunrise at the nearby lake. Spontaneous shot of starting geese, blurry, but nevertheless my favorite of that morning.

I had to think of @Pete_W while wandering around the Railway Museum in Utrecht

This was a UK mass production train, very cheaply build, hence this is one of the only survivors. this was #1000, Post WW2 there was a huge shortage of locomotives, so they build them vast and cheap, but not long lasting.

Small selection, but it is a fun museum.

A couple of bird shots with the S1Rii and 20-200. This sort of photography is not in my wheel-house at all, but the 20-200 and the bird detect AF on the S1Rii work well enough for static shots like this.

When you get used to shooting zooms, it’s easy to forget what small primes can do. The other day I took the Lumix 35mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.8 for a light walk around the city. Nothing special, just casual shooting. It’s a funny feeling — like finding something in your closet that you forgot you had, and suddenly remembering why you liked it in the first place.

I know the feeling :)with Fuji I shot almost exclusively with primes, (14/18/23/33,90), and just took a few with me, but not all of course. And sometimes with the 16-80/4, and for tele I had the cheap 50-230, which I really liked. With Lumix I almost exclusively use zooms, but when I pop on the 35/1.8 I always get the feeling you describe.

Super shots. Really sharp, esp given they are 100% crops/
Thanks! That Sigma 500/5.6 is truly a special lens. Not nearly as flexible as a zoom, but when it works, it’s top-tier, which really matters since I crop and/or use TCs so much for this kind of photography.

Got a little closer, and also had the 1.4x TC mounted. Again, 100% crops.
