*** March 2024 Image and Video Thread ***

Today the flowers opened up completely .. Sigma 45 wide open.

You can compare this image a bit with yesterday, the flowers are now open.
Very nice!

My Sigma 45mm should arrive today. Looking forward to trying it out.

A few shots of a Rotunda at Croome Park, an NT property in the UK midlands. The first with the 24-105, the other two with the TTArtisan 11mm fisheye. All with the S1R.

The fisheye shots look great Paul!

This is the Imperial Hotel at Clifton in New South Wales. It was built in 1911 and sits on the edge of the Pacific Ocean south of Sydney. It underwent a renovation in 2021.

Some of the shoots I took with the 70-300mm in order to test it (JPEG, straight out of the camera). I had a hard time focusing the rabbits when they were moving, at first (a lot of AF fails). But setting the AF to Set 3 got some improvements! For some reasons it cannot accept the size of my images even if it's under 6Mb, so I had to reduce the resolution of them.

A crop and a RAW for editing this one would worth it.

Lovely shots of the rabbits - even if they are garden destroyers!

To keep storage utilisation under control, there are limits to image size if you upload them directly.

Are you a Flickr user? If so, it's best to post BBCode links rather than uploading images to the site.

Seems all of is waiting on the 70-300 got it this week. I've only used the macro distance on it and it's great and thus I like the ladybird photo. It tested ag 300mm on a tripod fantastically to around 3.2m but yet to try it with action and tracking AF on S5ii, I do wish the AF settings were simpler regarding sensitivity settings etc.

Love this shot.

Love this shot.
Great minds think alike. It's minimalist with a bit of tilt-shift look to it.

This 70-300 looking likely to be the most favourable lens I've ever owned. Before I loved the Pentax DA* 60-250 f4 (eq. 90-375 APSC) but the snail paced AF and MFD were always a great handicap. What a great trade-in to help pay for this one.

Excuse my pathetic entry for March but it could be May before I get landscape photos of any worth.

In my grandparents generation households in Ireland would have Jesus, Mary and Pope John Paul II pictures and statues. Teenagers in the 90s had lava lamps, rave culture and Buddas despite nobody being buddist and this is still above the fireplace.

A quick preset PP in LR mobile first time using it and it is impressive and more powerful than when I slogged away on a desktop Intel i3 PC 10 years ago. I also used the new LR on M1 Mac mini and it is lightyears (sorry) ahead of the older legacy versions and despite being rusty I still like it. I don't really want to switch to other software now that I'm beginning in the photography groove again with a superior camera system also.

Some shots from the North Yorkshire coast.
Obviously you are a fan of heritage as I am.
It seems England places more importance on architectural heritage than here. So much of this is now missing here in Belfast not due to the 'troubles' but redevelopment.

I had a lecturer who was an architect for the 'Conservation and redevelopment of existing buildings' module in 1994 and he foretold what was going to happen. Many of these places have mysteriously burnt down, deemed as unrepairable and removed, especially in later years and replaced by typical 'high-end' student accommodation as part of now capitalist entity of profit oriented university education charging rich foreign kids 30k a year for what I got for free in the 1990s.

Some good redevelopment has recently sprung up like turning the pump house in Titanic area into a whiskey distillery but in general the bigger money are still bulldosing some of the best heritage areas including pubs/bars especially around Sailortown in the dock area.

All that will exist are the dying stories and photography and I always think why didn't I photograph that and that and this.

Paul and everone, if you archive these such photos they are time travel and important to those in the future. f1.2 vs f1.4, corner sharpness etc largely doesn't matter but how could you argue against what Ansel Adams did for photography or what Stanley Kubrick did for cinema?

Evening stroll near river “Vecht” with a weir and to the side a lock for ships to pass. And some hollow trees. A one hour hike with my daughter and finished just after sunset (7pm)

The way s5ii renders colourful skies is so much better then my previous camera's and I see the same in all your shots as well
