News Lumix 18-40/4.5-6.3

I mentioned in another post that the 18-40mm was not yet supported in DxO PhotoLab.

Support was first announced as being available in September (didn't happen) so I posted a question on their support forum. They've now advised that it's scheduled to be included in the January 2025 update.

Interesting. I have used DxO PureRaw 4 wih the 18-40mm and it seems to work okay. (This is the DxO plugin for Lightroom.) It identified the S9 and the 18-40mm, and the photos have the DxO characteristic of a slightly wider field of view compared to Lightroom. I wonder if they put it in DxO PureRaw before Photolab?

Thanks Charles, yes that is strange! Perhaps putting it in PureRaw first indicates a higher user-base out there for PureRaw and Lightroom?

In PhotoLab, photos from the 18-40 display with a warning icon in the top right corner to indicate no module available for the lens. I assume there will be uncorrected barrel distortion in my photos.

Unless it uses the correction data in the EXIF having failed to find its own?

I guess that's possible, I don't really know.

I had a similar situation when I first purchased the Lumix 14-28mm lens. It was about 5 months or so before DxO supported it. When I went back to reprocess the photos, I could see when I opened each image that some distortion correction was applied. The best was I can describe it is that the image flattened out a bit, if that makes sense.
