It's not every day you stumble upon a fairy village ...

Friday, July 3, 2026 around 3pm: Portland's annual Waterfront Blues Festival. Crowd gets much bigger Friday night and all day Saturday (including 4th of July fireworks Saturday evening). Family of geese were chill'n, listening to the music.

Glad you had fun!

The stage reminds me of the Kansas City Irish Fest, on Labor Day weekend; they have two stages this size, and several smaller stages meant for audiences of 20-50 people.

Hopefully the geese are not cooked. :) How hot was it out there?

Unlike the current extreme heat in most of the U.S. & the world, the Pacific NW has recently been very comfortable, with temperatures in the 60s-80s (F). Stay cool.

Very mild temperatures in California as well; really nice weather. We've been seeing the hot days in Europe and central to eastern U.S., so we're enjoying it here while we can.

So, guess what I found coming out of the restaurant this afternoon?

I admit I'm not much of a Gremlin fan, but this one was in beautiful condition.

And then there's this...

A couple more shots from yesterday at the Waterfront Blues Festival. As with the wide, river view shot above, the stage shot below is a crop of a 96MP RAW.

Last shot from July 3rd. Boaters enjoying the festival music.

Sydney's Central Station (opened 1906) with clock tower (added in 1921). Alongside is the new 'Atlassian Central' building, due to be completed in 2028. It's apparently a "hybrid-timber tower". It looks all steel and glass to me!

It was a mostly grey and cold winter day here in Sydney, so black & white seemed appropriate.
This photo was processed using DxO's Filmpack with the Ilford XP2 film simulation.

Cool! I didn't know Sydney has a subway. We would have checked it out when we were in town years go. My wife & I are "infrastructure tourists". :) If we ever get to make a second visit, we'll add it to our checklist. Cheers.

Yes, and it has been growing. It started many decades ago with an underground city loop which surfaces briefly at Circular Quay giving great views of the harbour. Then they added the Eastern Suburbs line which runs from Central out to Bondi Junction. The trains on these lines are all double decker with drivers and guards. More recently they've added Sydney Metro lines on both sides of the harbour (and it runs under the harbour). These are driverless trains. No crew on board at all.

Not really in the celebrating mood this year...some shots during the flyover of the 4th. B/W seemed appropriate...
Yeah, I get it. :(

Some nice planes, tho. Can’t place the team… is that the Angels or the Thunderbirds? But the ‘52, B-2 and B-1 are nice. Then the B-29, and is that a Mustang to the right?
