*** January 2026 Images & Videos Thread ***

My friend Joe snapped a couple of iPhone pics of me while we were on Mt. Hood yesterday.

That is such a lovely scene Xavier.
Thanks, Paul! I'm liking this Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8 lens more and more. I bought it thinking I'd mainly use it for video in low light, but it turns out it's excellent for landscape photography. It's like having four f/1.8 prime lenses in one, being the 28, 35, 40, and 45mm focal lengths the ones I use most for landscapes. And since Lightroom makes it so easy to merge images to create panoramas, I hardly ever need to use my Lumix 14-28mm. The Sigma is big and heavy, but since I always use it on the Lumix S1Rii with the battery grip, the combination is very well balanced.

I’m quite certain that lens is in my future.

Most serendipitous effect of rolling shutter. I was moving in my car right to left of frame and subject was walking left to right of frame. Steady as she goes, single capture mode. Ironically, the pics I took when I left the comforts of my car...not as compelling...always wanted a shot of pedestrians against this wall. It was, at one time, a security wall around a series of oil tanks which fed a power generation plant more than 2 miles away via underground oil lines in an abounded railway tunnel. But that story is for another day....
