How see the young generations Lumix

We had quite some discussions lately about the S9, S5ii(x), Successors for the S1(H/R), but what do the younger generations think about Lumix?

This is a hugely succesful channel for the younger content generations, and they did a comparison for streaming/filming/photo (i.n that order of significance)

But I found it very interesting take how they look at it, and spoiler: they ditched the Sony's for Lumix.

Well, when I'm ready to do my first TickTock video, I know which camera to choose! But I'm not sure I can afford the hairdresser fees to look like that!

Thanks John, that was interesting!

I follow Dustin and knew he worked for another channel but didn't know which one. Now I do!

Panasonic provide such astonishing value for $$$, with pretty much all the bells & whistles in the S5II at absolute bargain pricing, and still all people can do, is whinge and complain.

I think the complaints will disappear as soon as the new 3 Lumix cameras arrive many are waiting for. S1Rii, S1Hii and a small RF style camera.

With the small RF style camera in combination with the small Sigma i-series lenses, Panasonic kills the APS-C competition like Fuji X or Nikon DX.

With the S1Rii Panasonic will close the gap to the 60MP photographic oriented cameras of other brands and with the S1Hii Panasonic will underline its leading position for cheap, professional video gear.

Dirk, do you have information about that?

On January 7, 2025 there is a CES and it happened in the past that sometimes Panasonic announces a new camera Z04 Sabber

I agree with that. Actually, every full frame camera is an apsc camera the moment you use the crop option, right? Or the moment you use a apsc Lens.

I’ve been visiting LUMIX Rumours on and off for the past month or so and there is really very little in the way of rumours. When the S5ii was launched last Jan, there were rumours flying around in December about it. The lack of anything equivalent now tells me that there’s probably nothing imminent in the launch schedule.

No, I have no inside information. But it would be logical if Panasonic would bring out at least 2 new fullframe cameras in 2025.

I think the rumors started because the S5ii event in Japan was in December with many youtubers.

Leaks will be more difficult without a big youtuber event.

The announcements on a fair like the CES can be postponed in the last minute. Happened already in the past. Not many people need to be involved for such announcements. Therefore a lot easier to keep a secret.

I'm not so sure about the S1Hii and its ability to have much of a position for cheap, professional video gear. Canon has absolutely taken over that market with the R5 and R5 II. Panasonic is late to this market, and it would be VERY difficult to dislodge Canon at this point. The S1H did lead the market when it was introduced. Those days are over; Panasonic did not keep up the pace needed to maintain market share,

I just got the GH7. It has every video specification and feature needed for a video mirrorless camera. Except it is not full frame, and it does not have 8K video. It is a BIG step to go from the GH7 to full frame with the sensor and processor that will compete with Canon. Clearly Panasonic knows how to do this, but it will be expensive, and probably too late.

It really does my head in. Panasonic provide such astonishing value for $$$, with pretty much all the bells & whistles in the S5II at absolute bargain pricing, and still all people can do, is whinge and complain.

The problem is not with people making valid criticisms of a limited product. The problem is with people who label all opinions they don't like as whingeing and complaining.

I'm sure there are a small number of people who have valid criticisms. But you've confusing that, with those who make the wrong decisions, buy the wrong product, then proceed to moan and complain to all and sundry as to how it doesn't fit, exactly, their very own list of very specific requirements. When none of this information is hidden in any way, shape or form. People should learn to own their bad decisions, not blame others for them
