Hi from England

I'm a collectors of old film cameras but also love digital and have just bought the iconic Leica T..... A beautiful L Mount camera. I have a TT Artisan 35mm 1.4 MF and recently bought a Panasonic 18-40 AF which doesn't seem to like my T. If this turns out to be incompatible I will be looking for another silver wide angle AF lens to go with it. Any suggestions?
Best wishes Chris

Welcome Chris. Where in England are you?

In the East if England . Spalding Lincolnshire. Very flat lands about 30 miles from the sea.
I lived briefly near to Peterborough back in the 90s so know the general area. Some good sea scenes in the right weather!

Interesting that the 18-40 is incompatible with the Leica T. That shouldn’t be the case. How does the problem manifest itself?

The camera shows an error requiring update. My T is firmware 1.9 which I think is the last one, but my email to Leica hasn't been answered sadly.

Leica "T" mount, is made several years earlier than the later "L-mount".
As a start for the L-mount alliance, I can imagine the other members (other brands) of the alliance
don't take into account, more old specifications of the "T" mount of Leica.
So there is always a possibility e.g. the AF electronics and control of aperture, of a newly L-mount lens of another brand, doesn't support Leica T.

Besides the AF of Leica T seems very bad. Found a web-story 2022 about the Leica T.
However "Sigma APS-C" -- L-mount lenses seems to do a better job in combination to the Leica T.
At least these lenses do work. - AF functions seems to be bad by the poor AF functions of the Leica T camera itself.
