*** February 2026 Image & Video Thread ***

I've had difficulty with the weather and work to get out and take photos. Unfortunately I've missed some great opportunities. In the meantime, I posted something I had been working on last month and into this one. If not too presumptuous, here's the link to my latest blog posts: https://jtvbackstudio.blog/

I apologize as the pics aren't necessarily taken with L-mount cameras (I didn't own one until recently). So if you aren't interested in seeing photos from different formats and cameras, I understand.

Just one from yesterday, not sure what I was trying for here....wish I had ability to get back a little further, the crop seems to bother me:

Would a square crop work better? I'm in the Steel fabrication game, sort of, uneven geometry kind of niggles at me. We like square, plumb and level. Which can be a bit of a curse when visiting friends houses, eyeing off tile lines, bench tops, cupboard doors and the like.

A milky way image captured in the San Juan mountains of Colorado in January, when the core is still below the horizon.

This was 16 shots stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker. 13 sec each, ISO 3200, f/1,4. Sigma 14mm F1.4 Art. Stacked in Starry Landscape Tracker. Colors, contrast etc. liberally adjusted by yours truly.

Temperature was about -7C, so not the coldest I have endured. It’s been a warm winter here this year, LOL. But yes, Matti's Viltrox likely would have been fine at this shoot, albeit with a little narrower FOV.

I’ll try it out, thanks

Although, after re-reading your post, I may have misunderstood it. I thought you cropped it to how it is now, but I read it again and perhaps you composed it in camera like that? So no adding a bit more on the sides of the frame?
