*** February 2025 Image and Video Thread ***

Feeling well enough to go out and do a bit of shooting again today... went by the Plaza, an open-air upscale shopping center which I think I've mentioned here before is supposedly modeled after Spanish architecture, specifically Seville. Curious if anyone who's been there could verify this. :)

The signature tower of the Plaza.

Quick shot of some of the artwork scattered around the district.

One of the statues; sadly the light was pretty unforgiving.

Some artwork definitely not part of the Plaza, on one of the buildings facing it. :) Wish I'd gotten there an hour or so earlier.
That tower looks very similar to "La Giralda" tower in the Cathedral of Sevilla, Andalucía, Spain.

This one made it the Flickr "in explore" group Daumenhoch Smilie

I have used the AI Lightroom option to remove the dog's leash and it turned out pretty good. The thing is I have hundreds of photos where I should remove my dog's leash. I have to find an AI app for that, I'm sure there are...

There you go, I found this one: aftershoot. For wedding photographers that make 3000 shoots in a wedding day this app is very convenient.

"Aftershoot's AI will cull your photos in minutes, highlighting the winners for you to review
Blurred images, closed eyes, duplicates—all grouped separately for your convenience"

I think that’s the inspiration, yes… I’m more interested in how successful it is. :)

I’ve got other pics I can post from the district, although I’m not sure how well the effect comes across in piecemeal snippets.

Reminds me of Storm Thorgerson's artwork for Pink Floyd album covers.
I have Storm's book and all Floyd on vinyl except the last album, maybe something from Animals and if you cropped the ratio 2:1 you certainly have a gatefold.

I'm going to have to listen to it now, been a while. "sheep" is superb BTW as you'll probably agree assuming you are a fan. I seen Roger performing it in concert in Dublin.

Storm was an amazing artist and inspiration, he and the Floyd were made for one another for the greater glory of mankind.

BTW more interesting than rolling shutter arguments, some people forget cameras are tools made for creating artwork and many gear talk only freaks can never be artists.

I also have Storm's book, and coincidentally enough today's playlist at work was as much of the complete Floyd discography as I had time for, from "Piper" clear through to the first half of "Wish You Were Here." Tomorrow I'll continue on, starting where I left off at "Have a Cigar."

I rather thought Paul's photo had a sort of "Division Bell" feel to it, but yeah; I can see an "Animals" gatefold too.

On this point we are in violent agreement.

I love Pink Floyd. I remember listening to Echoes on a cassette tape in my bedroom at night when I was a teenager. I also remember watching them perform it on TOGWT on a beach in Dorset! Happy days. Talking of TOGWT, there was this fantastic piece done by Ian Emes to One of These Days from the same album as Echoes:

This is the ceiling of the chancel in the Church of St Michael and all Angels, Garton on the Wolds, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The whole church is an extraordinary example of Victorian decoration, and it's well worth a long detour to visit. It's one of the so-called Sykes Churches, named after the Sykes family who paid for their restoration. (There's even a "Sykes churches trail" in Yorkshire, which is well worth it if you like architectural photography).
