Hello everyone,
Any experience with Canon EF Tele lenses (300mm2.8, 100-400..) adoption to Lumix camera (S5II and more recent models) for sport and action?
thanks

I use a Tamron 70-210mm f/4 on a Commlite adapter on my original S5, mostly for events at my daughters' school. It's certainly not what you would call sports usage as the subjects are not very fast-moving. AF is pretty accurate but slow by modern standards and the lens frequently racks to minimum focus and then back out (it doesn't have a focus limiter) which can be a pain. The same lens on my Canon 6D focuses quickly and confidently though it did need some fine-tuning for accuracy on the DSLR (not a concern on mirrorless of course).

It's not a setup I'd be likely to use for sports, I'd just use the 6D and accept the lower image quality, but on newer bodies like the S5 II with phase-detect AF points on the sensor I believe AF should be a lot better and faster. Although I've never used it on one of those newer cameras, I would recommend the Commlite adapter as the Sigma one is very fussy about which lenses it works with while the Commlite has worked with every lens I've tried - Canon, Tamron or Sigma.

Thanks for this complete answer. I'm planning to get the viltrox adapter. so I cross my fingers!

I'd be interested to know how the Viltrox adapter works out for you.
