Blackfriday

Have you fallen into the temptation of sales and bought something on Blackfriday? Z04 Flucht

I bought an Eizo brand monitor for photo and video editing and I am happy as a child with a new soccer ball... Z04 Carrot

I will probably renew my DXO Photolab licence and upgrade to version 8, although I did not use much editing over the last years because of time issues. What I really need with sll photo editing software is a mature metadata filtering system, which is on par with my very old Lightoom 6 version. So far, neither CO, nor DXO nor photomechanic are able to do the same. What a disappointement after so many years not to catch up.

But the DXO upgrade is so cheap today, that I would be stupid not to do it.

For L-Mount, the lenses I am missing do not exist yet. Hopefully this will change in 2025.

For Fuji X-Mount, I will probably push the button on the XF 33/1.4. I have to check prices again, but this is today really cheap. Almost cheaper than second hand. I always hesitated with that lens because of its stupid high price for that focal range. If I go for it I can test it without loosing money and decide afterwards, whether it can replace my XF35/2.0 and be a better/more relaxing alternative with the XT5 to the Leica Q3 43. But it will be hard to beat the 43mm focal range view with 49mm...

With MFT I am dying. I had the Olympus 40-150/2.8 Pro ones, loved it, but decided to sell it, because it is too big compared to my other tele zooms. But since I sold it, I miss it. Now the black friday prices are ridicilous low for that lens. Again second hand level. But I try to resist.

I was interested in the DJI Osmo pocket 3 creator package, but there are no "real" BF deals out there. Too expensive IMHO.

Always do research for prices changes within the last 6 months. Additionally, I always sleep over it before I spend the money. Even after one night, I will wait today a few hours to avoid impulse GAS buys. But at least with the DXO upgrade, I am pretty sure that I will do it later on.

I bought the LUMIX S 18-40mm lens last week.

Black Friday sales here start a whole week before Black Friday and when I went out to the local mall today saw that they were still running this weekend. o_O

Black Friday happens often in Lumix for certain stuff, many lenses including 24-105 f4 never seem to follow Black Friday. It's always better if you need a camera lens/lenses combo. I'm still happy with £1899 for S5ii and 24-105 f4 at the start of this year. Rarely gets this cheap. Some US guys got a $650 24-105 f4 new from costco or something in a one-off.

Exactly, Dirk, I would buy a 40mm f2... and I hope that Samyang put it in the market soon.

That is a good one. So good that now it is a bit "hyped", and I read yesterday that the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is coming soon, so the price of the 3 will go down too

It is not exactly a Black Friday sale, but from now until the end of the year Panasonic includes the 32-bit floating DMW-XLR2 XLR microphone adapter for free with the GH7. I have been looking at the GH7, and had expected I would get the DMW-XLR2 with it, so this was enough discount to tip the scales and I bought the GH7.

I had the GH6 early on, but it had enough issues I did not use it a lot and I retired it, actually in a box in the closet. But the GH7 corrects all the GH6 issues I had, and with more overall capability, and I got more for the GH6 as a trade in than I expected. That was an additional Black Friday discount for me! Congrats Charles. That sounds like a very good deal.

Was that on sale? I mean at reduced prices?

Yes, it was on sale for AUD $677 which equates to approximately USD $440 at the current exchange rate.

Toda y is Cyber monday... I have seen a good deal for the 100mm macro 300€ cheaper in Germany:

I waited a l-o-n-g time to upgrade from a several year old, nothing-special Samsung 21" 1080p monitor. On Black Friday I drove a short distance to the local Best Buy store and purchased a nothing-special LG 27" UHD 4K "smart" monitor (model #27SR73U-W) for $209 US (less-expensive than the price at Amazon & B&H), and no sales tax here in Oregon. I'll use it with my MacBook Pro 13" M1 laptop.

The color accuracy of the new monitor is good enough for my purposes (as was the old monitor), and the larger size and 3840x2160 resolution is a big improvement. Plus the new monitor is much more energy efficient compared to the old one. I don't have any use for the new monitor's "smart" features, so I've turned off its WiFi and ignore all its menu options other than input selection & brightness (the latter I usually set to 25% or less).

that is a great deal!

In the UK, OM Systems are offering the OM1 (mark i) with 12-40 and 40-150 f2.8 for £2149. That's really a pretty good deal. Just over £2k for a very capable camera plus two top-tier zooms that will take you from 24mm to 300mm equiv.

Wex UK have an open box L-mount Sigma 60-600 for £1,161.75.

If I could afford it I probably would have bought it then buyer's guilt like last 2 days driving 50 miles, soaked twice, 2x photo trips and zero photos.

Has anyone really tested the weather sealing on S5ii or others? I destroyed a Pentax DSLR once with rain, OK they said it had a bad LCD seal and replaced it but I'm not happy experimenting with gear 6x the price.

1099 Pounds. That is really a bargain.

...and in dark olive.... Would somebody like to exchange my black one against dark olive?
The green is nice isn't it?

But I'm not going to buy an S9. I've been spending too much on gear recently as it is. But my resolve is hardening. I've managed to avoid buying a lightly used S1 for the bargain price of £520!

In any case, I'm saving my pennies for the S1ii in February!
