Battery Grips for S5II

Lumix offers actually 2 battery grips for the S5II: the BGS5 originally released for the first S5 and the new BG1. From the offical website I can only see, that the BG1 is additionally compatible with the G9II.

Is there any difference in using these grips on a S5II body???

I have the original BGS5 grip, and I guess the main difference is that the new one features an 8-directional joystick. The joystick of the original BGS5 is 4-directional, if I remember correctly (I don't have it here).

That limited 4 way joystick is a deal beaker for me as I described in another thread recently where I literally could not use an S5 instead of S5ii. It's a massive handicap as I constantly use the joystick, my former Pentax DSLR didn't even have a joystick hence along with everything else I was so glad to ditch it.
