Long time Sony user here (actually Minolta then the a100 up to the A7CR), but was recently seduced by the (silver) Sigma BF. I was happy with my A7CR but a little bored. Things came to a head a few months back when I returned from a trip to the Gili Islands off Bali and found myself underwhelmed by the photos I'd taken there. They were all sharp and properly exposed, but nothing stood out... they were boring. I had a camera with a 61MP sensor and half dozen AF alternatives, but I lacked inspiration. Maybe because taking the shot was so easy (despite the camera's complexity). Then I came across an article about the BF, and it piqued my curiosity. On the surface, it was a stunning camera. The further I looked into, the more I became convinced it was what I needed to get me out of my rut ... something completely different, pared down to the most basic experience of composing the shot and pressing the shutter button. Something that had the simplicity that would encourage mindfulness but could still take beautiful images. I have not been disappointed. Photography has become fun again, but I also love the images the BF produces (especially the Ultra HDR jpegs, the various colour profiles, and the ability to process in camera). I think the camera has gotten a bad rap from a lot of people who don't understand what it's really about, but I couldn't be happier. So far, I have the Sigma 45mm 2.8, 24mm 3.5, the Voigtlander 35mm 2.8, and the Brighten Star 28mm 2.8. Really hard to get silver lenses!
(Seems I can't yet post images from last week's trip to Hiroshima... another time perhaps).
Thanks!
