Here are a few late afternoon photos taken not far from where I live south of Sydney.
A few kilometres from home is Bass and Flinders Point, where the Hacking River meets the Pacific Ocean. There is a small monument there to Matthew Flinders and George Bass, two English naval men who sailed past this headland in a small boat named Tom Thumb II in 1796. Flinders was a Captain and a cartographer who later went on to circumnavigate Australia.
There is a ferry service that runs from the north side of Port Hacking across to the small township of Bundeena. It is oldest timetabled ferry service in Australia having started in 1939. The company that runs the service has two ferries, one of them named Tom Thumb III.

These are the last + final images I took with the 50mm 1.8 before I passed it on to my brother. I was being sarcastic in a video / title about being a "nature photographer" and if the S9 was capable of it, and this is what I got. I by no means consider myself a nature photog but, I do really love the outdoors and I hike a ton. A nice zoom would have served me well on this day but, the 50mm did a nice job regardless. I'm on the Sigma 45mm 2.8 right now and I love it for the form factor, but I can't lie...I do miss the 50mm 1.8 because there was just something about it. I don't know what it is.. I dunno, maybe I'll buy a used one. We'll see.

First portrait images I've taken on the S9.. With the Sigma 45mm 2.8 on board. Was a test shoot but, I see what I had hoped !

Gorgeous photos, TSJ! Beautiful light and I really love the film-like look of the shots and SOOC too! Very nicely done man.
The S9 and Sigma 45mm is a really great combo.

I spotted this old Volkswagen Type 2 (split window Kombi / Microbus) while out walking this afternoon.
I should have taken the shot using Leica Monochrome given the overcast conditions but didn't think to do that at the time. So I post-processed the raw with DxO's Filmpack using the Ilford XP2 film simulation with a bit of grain added.

Yes! That's the colour. I really like that shade.
BTW, this is the early version of the second generation microbus/kombi known as a "lowlight" because the indicators are just above the bumper. On the later version the indicators were moved up higher alongside the vent, like in your second photo.
And this Beetle reminded me of my first car, a 1966 model that was Tardis blue.

That is a gorgeous Beetle! Great colour and in such good condition!

Glad they brought back some great memories!My parents owned a series of VW buses & campmobiles when my 6 siblings and I were kids, so these vehicles are near & dear to my heart!Thanks for sharing!

I had a VW Microbus (not a Kombi) many years ago. I've forgotten what color it was. All these VW pictures bring back memories.

Apologies for the off-topic detour ...My parents owned a series of VW buses & campmobiles when my 6 siblings and I were kids, so these vehicles are near & dear to my heart!
Note the non-American license plate. Note also the duck! In 1972 my parents arranged to purchase a VW campmobile "long distance" from VW in Europe. My older brother and Uncle Joe took delivery of the VW during a European road trip vacation, and at the end of their vacation had the VW shipped to my family's home in NJ. In this photo, my parents pose with the brand new VW and 4 of my 5 sisters, and our family's pet duck Charlie. Our duck loved to travel in the VW with his head sticking out the window, like a pet dog, and startle drivers of cars passing us on the highway (our loaded-down VW always drove slowly). The photo was snapped at a property our family once owned in Tenants Harbor, Maine, where my siblings & I spent childhood Summers escaping the heat & humidity of our home in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey.

Fantastic photos Travis. That first shot of the split-window bus with crown light windows would have to be my favourite model. Would love to own one but they go for crazy prices around here now. Someone in our local area has a few just like that first photo that can be hired out for weddings.
