P/S But there is a problem, everything that this company has released before has not been implemented in L mount

Looks nice and compact!

Yes. And I don't know how much smaller compared to the 18-40 zoom, which has AF, is faster and has the extra range.
Agreed. The 18-40 looks like a better option. If this 7Artisans were an f2.8 it might be a different story.

I'm really happy that the 20-60 is in hand to still any cravings for superduperwide focal lengths. At least that particular place in my kit is covered!

I saw this announcement the other day and I have to say I'm really considering it, just waiting for some reviews to pop up. Although I'm sure there are overall better options out there, including the fantastic 20-60mm I already own, having a very small ultra-wide for just €99 would be very convenient. I often travel with my Sigma 24-70/2.8 which is already big and heavy so adding the 20-60mm or the 16-35mm adds considerably more space, so a tiny lens like this that gives me an extra 6mm would be handy.

There's some feedback and even a few images here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1887734/

It still looks interesting but with the news that Viltrox is seeking an L-mount license their 20mm f/2.8 (which is cheap plastic but two stops faster (and not a fixed aperture) and has AF) might be a better option as a cheap and compact UWA.

But it could take some time until Viltrox lenses for L-Mount get introduced. Look at Samyang. There was s still only one lens available.

Yep. Even if I bought the 18mm new for €99 and sold it in a year at a 35% loss, €35 isn't a lot to pay to have a lens for year, and I have a couple of upcoming trips where a compact UWA would be handy.

Has anyone here actually bought or used one? I have a bit of an affinity for the weird & unloved, for $149 Au I'm a bit tempted to pick one up to partner my Lumix S 26mm. And adapted EF 40mm pancake. Or does anyone have any links to some real world user images? Cheers

And I've watched a couple of videos on it

The first of those videos has some nice-looking B&W images from it, but hard to tell how good they really are from a YT video. Response overall seems mixed but the edges seem quite poor, but even if you crop them off you've still got a ~20mm ultra-wide that's compact.

I had decided to get one but then last week I was using a vintage Vivitar 17mm f/3.5, which is admittedly bigger and heavier especially when you include the PK to L adapter, and was impressed with it. I haven't used it that much since I got it because it's soft wide open and needs to be stopped down to f/5.6, but that's the aperture this new lens uses all the time anyway. It also took one of the best photos I've ever made. Regarding the size and weight, I often have an adapter for vintage lenses with me anyway, so I'd only be adding the lens on top of that.

So I'm still undecided.

Yeah, I'm the same. The Black and White images look really good, I've seen some quite good shots (sharpness wise) on the Lumix Facebook group, but then by the same token, seen some really really average corners on the Fred Miranda? site. So yeah, I'm going to wait a while until there's a few more of in the wild, and a lot more images to look at
