Yes! Got it just before my Glacier/Grand Tetons trip. Will post some shots soon. I use it as you do, but also for gratuitous background blurring, LOL. And astro! Although have not used it yet at night. Did not do much astronomy this year, sadly. Hopefully I’ll get some in next month.

It’s like having four f/1.8 primes (28, 35, 40, and 45mm) in a single lens. I know it’s heavy and bulky, but if we compare it to the Lumix f/1.8 primes, the Sigma 28-45mm f/1.8 wouldn't be as heavy or bulky as those four combined in a camera bag. And in terms of price, the Sigma is likely cheaper than the other four put together...

Meh.

Weight in the camera bag is important, but weight and bulk when using the lens is more important. ^^;; My shoulder handles weight better than my arms at normal extension…

It’s good to have options.

But yes, the 28-45 is cheaper than three Sigma f2 primes.

I prefer to have the framing flexibility of a zoom. And for astro, bag weight is really the only weight that matters, since the camera is on a tripod when shooting.

I sincerely hope they follow up with a longer version, similar to what they did with the crop lenses. Maybe a 50-100 f/1.8 or something similar.

If it started at 24mm rather than 28mm then I would be a lot more interested but I'd have to swap it for a 24mm all the time.
