Last night I introduced my new camera to the Aurora Borealis. From midnight to 1 PDT it was amazing, very similar to the May storm! I took several shots and a few 4k photos that I haven't reviewed yet; I slept in and need to visit Portland for a few hours, so images must wait Z02 Banned1

At some point I remembered the timelapse setting and dialed it in. I made a 3fps video of ~100 shots at 10s intervals. Thankfully the camera asks the right questions so it's simple, and when complete it asks more. Results on the rear screen look great - I'll drag it to my website and post a link when time allows.

I've Read some of TFM, so I knew where a few items were found, plus my Lumix μ43 experience helped. And I now have RED on my Q-menu Daumenhoch Smilie though aurora reviews aren't ideal that way.

Great camera! Also the 20-60mm worked fine at f/3.5, though my Pentax 28/2.8 also had some sensor time. Mostly shot 2" more or less at iso1250.

Welcome. Looking forward to seeing your photos!

Love the timelapse. Brings some dynamism to the aurora.

Yes, I had no idea the aurora shifted clockwise around the (north) Pole. Well at least that night it did!
I think the aurora remains in the same orientation relative to the sun/earth positioning - but of course the earth is spinning and we’re on its surface, so the aurora apparently moves.
