New (to me, anyway...) Lens Today

The lunar eclipse shooting and subsequent conversation in-thread with @Travis Butler got the old GAS itch going again... This old piece of glass arrived today, swooped off of eBay.


An old Tamron #55BB, 5000mm f/8.0 catadioptric lens. My telescope's kid brother, as it were. I fitted it out with an Adaptall2 L-mount adaptor, courtesy of K&F Concept. us$150, all in.
The outside looks kinda shopworn and moth-eaten, maybe, but the insides are 100% tip-top. Now for the fun part: trying to remember how a fully manual lens works, some fifty years since owning one.

Goodness! I used to have one of those back in the film days. Used it on my Canon A1; I remember it being quite a hard lens with which to get good results, but effort paid off.
