LUMIX S1II - Record Audio Only

Video files are heavy, and sometimes we only need to record the audio.
The quality obtained with a decent external microphone is good, especially with a floating 32-pin XLR connector.
I haven't found a way to record audio without video on this camera!
I would be interested to know how to program this, if it's possible.

I tend to use Fairlight in DaVinci Resolve as an audio editor, and will throw in music and other audio. In this case I disable the video track.

Here is how I would do it.
1. Go ahead and shoot in video mode, but with the lens cap on.
2. Start a new DaVinci Resolve project, import the movie clips, and put them on the timeline.
3. Edit/cut the clips in the Edit mode.
4. Then edit the sound in the Fairlight mode.
5. Export the sound. In export go over to the "Audio Only" format. Select Audio, select audio format and audio sample rate. Of course set file location and file name. Then export.

I just tried this with the S1R II with the DMX-XLR2 microphone adapter. It worked great, really easy if you are a DaVinci Resolve user. If not I'm happy to answer any questions.

Here is how I would do it.

Of course select a "not-heavy" video format, FHD etc. And the video files can be deleted after the sound file is captured.

It’s not possible. But you could just shoot in 1080p MP4 which are tiny files. Then just drop them in Media Encoder (if you have that), and export as 32bit .WAV files.
