I always can recognize the 16-35 pictures from the others because it renders very different to my eye with more “pop” or microcontrast. Probably something subjective I like a lot.

I have the 14-28mm, 16-35mm and the 18-40mm. Some time ago I took some pictures at aperture 8 and could hardly see any difference in sharpness. But there is some difference in colour rendering. The colour rendering of the 16-35mm is practically identical to that of the 24-105mm. Panasonic may have changed the lens coating on newer lenses???

Personally, I like my 16-35mm best. It has a nice range and can be used as a "walk around" lens. I also like my 18-40mm very much. The 14-28mm misses the range 28-35(40)mm.

It depends on personal preferences what range is the best option. At 14mm I can make very nice pictures indeed, but I would never use the 14-28mm as a single lens when on holiday. For me the 16-35mm is better for that.
