Hi,
I am just an ambitious snapper that takes photos, sometimes more, sometimes less, only for private use.
Mostly the genres landscape, architecture, night-light-shadow and documentation of our family vacations.

After using Nikon for many years, I switched 2015 to a fantastic Panasonic FZ1000, and after a small detour over Fujifilm,
I bought an S5ii and the 28-200 lens in summer 2024. A LUMIX 50mm f1.8 was added for Christmas.

But I must say, I am a bit disappointed by the quality of the combination S5ii + 28-200 in comparison to the old FZ1000 regarding the price difference.
But perhaps I need to learn more to get proper results from my setup.

Thank you for receiving me here in this forum

Welcome to the forum! It's a great community.

The S5II is very capable so I am sure with time you will come to produce great images with it.

I’m not a fan of the 28-200. I’d suggest you get a 20-60 see how you get on with that. Or even better if you want to spend the cash, get a 24-105 or one of the several 24-70 or 28-70 lenses that are available.

Paul, the Tamron 28-200 doesn't seem to be much better... I recently watched this video and the photographer (aows) compared it to the Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM; the Tamron looks pretty weak. You can clearly see this at the 1:43 mark.

Sorry @helix, maybe this is not the right thread for this... but that's how we are in this forum

I read the controversial discussion about the Lumix 28-200, perhaps I will go and ask in my photo shop if I can try another copy of it, maybe they do have an exhibition sample.
Anyway, the photographic fund is closed for the moment so I have to use what I got and I will try to find profiles to get better jpegs out of the raw files.
Although the Sigma 24-105 f2.8 looks good... No! Hands off!
