DJI entering l-mount?

Yesterday a german guy (sometimes quite well informed) posted the info, that DJI wants to enter the mirrorless market and has the goal to become no1 in this market. They are already part of MFT and l-mount alliance and have the power to start such a project.
The l-mount camera and first lenses should be available before christmas!

Just a rumor, but it is not so long to see what will happen…

Very interesting to see what they are able to do bearing in mind that they already own Hasselblad and could use the experience that they have with models like the Ronin 4D and the Dji Pocket 3. They even have their own lenses, the Zenmuse X7 DL/DL-S prime lenses. This company is having lots of succes with the drones and now are launching a very strong line of e-bikes, the Amflow E-MTB. Lets see what happens but a big of a different approach would not be bad for the camera industry...

Probably fake, but that picture of the rumored DJI is circulating around the Internet:

Looks to good to be true and would be totally different from what I would think DJI would come up with.

Hard to imagine DJI would do a rangefinder camera.

Theoretisch s picture was already identified as fake, nevertheless I would buy such a camera at once! That was something I expected from the S9…

I'm looking at their drones after seeing my friend using his. For me it's far more useful than another lens or camera which I don't need. Even the DJI software is amazing and the better ones even have RAW output.

If they bring that tech to cameras then they could make a dent in the market.

FYI: The DJI "Mini 4K" drone ($299 US) can shoot RAW DNG stills at 4000x3000 resolution. It's the one I own. Of course, many of their more-expensive models have larger sensors & many more features (such as manual exposure control, etc.).

I've used DJI drones and gimbals for quite some time. My view, they make high quality and very capable products.

I didn't know that it was already identified as fake, but that was to be expected and almost obvious, that it is fake. The lens release button is on a different place compared to other L-Mount camera, also the lens seems quite small for a 35mm f1.4 and Leica probably wouldn't licence something so close in design to there figurehead camera, the M series. Especially when it's branded with Hasselblad, the brand that is as close in luxury image and tradition as it can be in the camera industry.

But I thought I'd share it anyway, because it would be such a beautiful designed camera.

I understand that there is a big chance DJI drones are going to be banned in the USA? That reasons behind that might also be used for a L-Mount camera from DJI.

Here in Europe, I don't think we would get the ban for DJI, so i'm very interested in what DJI will come with...
I love my DJI Mini2, which I hope to upgrade to the DJI Mini4 Pro next year, And I also love my DJI Osmo Action4 and DJI Mic's.

My friend was using a DJI Air 2S, his second one as he lost one in the sea. With a 1" sensor seems pretty good but the updated 3 model has a smaller 1/1.3" sensor but it must be as good or uses binning techniques i.e software to compensate, similar to the new phone cameras.

Then you can get MFT sensors and even FF.

As for USA ban that's total politicking so we'll stay clear of that forum sinkhole. Z04 Carrot

I would want the Mini4 Pro, because <250 gram is a huge benefit in Europe (due to law).

And politics: I would not dare to talk about it. But i can see it will be harder to drone in the USA with a DJI drone. If it is a good or bad thing is not for me to say.... I don't even live there.

I think the exam is simple, a neighbour has it and he can barely read so I should have no worries :p

My friend isn't licensed, he lives in China but never stops him bringing it back here to use it like last month, nobody to police it anyway nor have I heard of anything like that.

I don't worry about the exam, but the rules is (at least in the Netherlands, but I presume whole the netherlands), that you are not allowed to fly over people with a drone, THE ONLY EXCEPTION when the drone is less than 250 grams, our you do a lot of work to aquire proper licenses (for that only flight!).

I don't want stress about it, juist want to fly. And the mini 4 Pro has excellent 4K 10-bit quality,

This is is my home city, filmed with my trusty mini2 some years ago, and the mini4 has even better quality:

I was also very happy with these shots in the Czech repuiblic:

Not sure about Ireland/UK but I'm usually in remote landscapes where people are scarce if any and that would be my use case.

You could still do serious injury with a 249g drone flying into somebody or dropping from 1000m onto someone's head  but yeah the lighter drones have their advantages but could still land you in trouble.

I'll have a look at your videos shortly.

This is a really interesting topic. I don't know what companies that are dedicated to technology do with our data, nor do I know if there is international espionage and if this information is a risk to national security... regarding DJI the only thing I have noticed as a private user is that since I installed the app for using the DJI Osmo Action 4 with my mobile phone, my data consumption has multiplied by two or more...

I only know that every day I am consuming more and more high quality products that come from Chinese companies that are dedicated to the imaging industry: DJI for the action cam, the chinese manufacturrer Smallrig (I have all kinds of accessories for the rig of my S5IIX) and I am very happy with the quality of the neutral density and polarizing filters of the Chinese brand NiSi... :D

I installed the app for using the DJI Osmo Action 4 with my mobile phone
The app was needed for activating (we can start a discussion about that ;-) ), but do you use the app actually?
I just installed it for the activation, but for the rest I connect the camera directly to the PC (we could also discuss that about safety....), but for my use I don't need the app.

Naturally this happens but not in the past method of double agents covertly photographing MinuteMan 3 missile diagrams  however nowadays there are cameras everywhere, everyone with a phone is uploading anything from everywhere. My car has a dashcam and wifi remote surveillance and cloud uploading.

As I said it's geo-politicking and I doubt they are worried about disclosing absolutely anything that can be seen from the many camera sources.

But then again the Ukrainians are actively breaking all the Russian air defence and electronic blocking with their drone tech (ahem cough CIA/USA cough cough) and I doubt DJI are supplying this so there is the irony.

Maybe Charles could try Area 51 with his? :p

John, I don't know if we are talking about the same app. There are many of them but I have only used two: the DJI Store and the DJI Mimo. This second one is the one I use when I want to download the videos of the DJI Osmo Action 4 to my handy and I use it too when I do a POV video or a hyperlapse with the camera next to my chest, because I am not able to see the screen and I need to use my handy to adjust the field of view. With this DJI Mimo app you can edit the videos too and there are a lot of tutorials or Shotguides.
