As I used to do in my Pentax days I'd like to post my twelve shots that reflect the year for me. A few important shots are missing because I've limited this to my S5 and I used other cameras for notable things, the X-M1 for a Radiohead gig, the 6D for a couple of days with a friend who came to visit for the first time, but most of what I've photographed has been with my L-mount gear.

From the Reyes Magos celebration in Segovia at the very beginning of the year

Of course, a few shots from my trip back home to Scotland.

This rock in the sea during a week staying at a beachside hotel near Valencia at the end of the summer. The way the sea has eroded the supporting part makes the rock look like it's floating.

That's a great selection and I think a great idea for a thread that we could all contribute to. I'll post up my top 12 too!

A baker's dozen (13). I don't have a favorite photo for every month of 2025. Some months I never got outside with my camera. I'll try to do better in 2026.

This first one shows me at age 3, contemplating cotton candy bigger than my head. It's a frame grabbed from 3K H265 video recorded using my S5iiX aimed at a rear projection of a 1957 8mm film family home movie. This was one of a few dozen old 8mm home movies I digitized this year using my S5iiX and Davinci Resolve Studio.

In January 2025 I snapped one of the "Holiday Express Train" locomotives in the Oregon Rail Heritage Center's "train barn" in Portland (small boy for scale):
pjd-holiday-express-train-03-oregon-rail-heritage-ctr-portland-250103-p1001378_h.jpg

In February 2025 I walked a short detour off the route of the HI-LO Trail and snapped this lucky (Hi-Res 96MP), unusually calm Willamette River scene in Lake Oswego, Oregon (almost-completed HI-LO website here):

In March 2025 I tried to remember to look UP while walking on the HI-LO through nearby Tryon Creek State Natural Area. Douglas Firs are very cool trees!

In April 2025 I snapped this view of Portland's "Tilikum Crossing Bridge of the People":

In May 2025 I found this little herb sprouting in an old growth cedar stump on the HI-LO in nearby Marshall Park.

Skipping ahead to August 2025, I held my S5iiX w-a-y above my head on an extended tripod to snap this photo in Lake Oswego for one of the HI-LO interpretive signs.

Again, skipping ahead to October 2025, at the "No Kings" protest rally in Lake Oswego:

The Fall colors in my neighborhood were really nice this year:

In November 2025, my neighborhood's Fall colors continued to be wonderful ...

... but I also appreciate some of the funkier scenes:

In December 2025 I treated myself to a new lens, which I'm enjoying very much!

Cheers!

Beautiful photos. The last is

Given my family circumstances during this year I don't think it has been really fruitful. I also deeply respect the master Alex Webb, who says "The world only gives you 3 or 4 really good photos a year": https://photolari.com/el-mundo-solo-te-da-3-o-4-fotos-realmente-buenas-al-ano-un-cafe-con-alex-webb/

Anyway, I put more or less 12 decent photos, taken with L-Mount system cameras, right?

7 and 8 for me - superb images.

As seems typical for me, the photos came in bunches, so one per month didn't work... that said, still a lot of trouble narrowing down to 12. :(

A lot of my favorites came from Liberty Memorial/National World War I Museum, this being my first look at their new galleries in March.

The trip to Michigan for my friend's wedding at the end of May was another huge pic-fest, with separate clusters at the Henry Ford museum, the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, and Mackinac Island itself. Here we have Ford's iconic Model T.

And I guess we'll stretch it to a baker's dozen with probably my final pic trip for the year, the Kansas Cosmosphere.
