Silver Sigma Contemporary Lenses

Although I wasn't too excited about the Sigma BF as beautifully foolish as it is, I was happy to see the possibility of silver lenses as I thought there were
a couple I would like to pair with my silver TL2, so I went ahead and ordered the first I'd considered - the 45mm 2.8. I like the rendering even on aps-c, and the size is great for the smaller body. Anyway, earlier this afternoon, after what has seemed like quite a long wait it arrived, so for anyone else waiting they are in the UK.

I'm a sucker for nice packaging, even though it obviously has no impact on my photo's ;) , but I was happy to see the packaging style of the BF has been carried over into these lenses, nice - thank you Sigma. I only hope the lens works for me as I would hate to repack and send it back!

Hahaha :D, I don't know, some people find inspiring the sound of the shutter, or the shape of the camera, or the EVF, of some manual Lens, or the screen... It is really important to find something in our gear that inspire us and brings ud to the "Flow"...

And the good news is that it is something totally subjective and unscientific... In my case it is the Nikon Df. I really enjoy using that camera. By the way I really like the silver cameras Daumenhoch
 
One of my favourite lenses, and it looks fantastic in silver on the silver TL2!

The packaging is a step up from the previous standard packing.

I loved 40mm on APSC. And 30mm on m4/3. 60mm 135 format FOV. Been keeping an eye out for a 60mm for L mount, I've tried wandering about with my Sigma 28-70mm set at 65mm (replicating the Sigma 65mm F2), but found it a touch too long for what I have in mind for it. I'm going to try 55mm for a while (once again on my Sigma zoom) & see if that's enough of a step from 50mm.

That is a very good combination and nice images!

With the Sigma i-series in silver, there will be now a run on second hand Leica TL2...

Thanks. Prices on used T/TL/TL2 have been very slowly rising over the last year or so, there were a lot of (relatively) unhappy folks when Leica dropped aps-c. So far Sigma have released the 35 f/2 50 f/2 and 45 2.8 in silver, yet to announce dates for any of the others. I'm wondering if it will depend on sales figures for the BF, I would like to swap my 90 black and maybe pick up the 24 3.5, in my head those three with the 18TL are a lovely lightweight, very capable set on the TL2 :).

I think this is just related to production ressources: it is a new production run for every lens necessary and that is not possible for the whole line at the same time.
 
That combo looks gorgeous Jayne! And the results are great too. I wish someone would launch a smallish L-mount camera with an EVF. I'd be all over it.

Thanks Paul, yes that would be good, and doesn't seem too much to ask for. Truthfully I shouldn't be looking at anything "l" mount I'm well covered in Sony land, but having used L mount since the beginning with Leica, it's hard to break away completely, and the TL2 is fun to use, plus I can bung the EVF on if needed.:)

Yes, I expect a lot of people will clear their accounts to get such a camera… (me too!)
But when I talked to some Leica guys in spring at a shop exhibtion that a Q3 with l-mount is the camera a lot of people are waiting for the answer was: „why should we do this?“
It seems like no company from l-mount believes to have success with a rangefinder style camera WITH EVF and such a camera will be a winner…

I think their reaction to your question is more like ".... we are not so stupid to hurt our Leica M and Q sales"

Let's face it. The better a Lumix or Leica Q body with L-Mount would be, the less people will buy Leica M or Leica Q.

Even if it would be Leica branded and with crazy high price, they will loose on the "M-side". My guess is that 70% of their M sales are to people older than 50 years old. The older you get, the more difficult it is to manual focus.

These people will then add to their M a Leica Q. But if a Leica Q would allow to exchange lenses, they would rather replace the M with that L-Mount Q.

At some point the M system will need to go properly AF. A rangefinder is an anachronism in today’s world. Having an L-Mount body to mimic its feel and looks is by no means a dumb idea.

I don't think the M mount will ever go AF because unless the AF was fantastic from the word "go" it would just be criticised.

A rangefinder is an anachronism but that's it's charm for those that are will to spend that amount of money on it. Adding AF would spoil it.

Personally I've always hated silver lenses and all-silver/chrome cameras. I had a silver Pentax FA 43mm for a while and it looked awful on any camera I put it on. The new Sigma packaging looks lovely though.
