Well that surprised me. It's already out for delivery, and with Australia Post too. Should be ready to collect after work I'd guess
Went and collected it (the 26mm f8) from the Post Office after work, trundled home, popped it on the S5, and shot a few frames with it. It's tiny. And light. Small enough that I've got to be a little bit careful not to get my fingers in the frame lol. I've read a few complaints in regards to the manual focusing, I find it a breeze. I've got the joystick set that when I click it, it punches in to the magnified view, combined with focus peaking it's then childs play
Twirl the rear dial from there if you want more magnification, & it jumps in even tighter.
It looks plenty sharp to me. I watched a review where they said it's quite comparable to the Lumix 20-60mm, I'd have to agree with that.
Colour rendition looks very much the same as my other Lumix lenses, no complaints there. I can get it to flare shooting into the sun, wouldn't say it's any worse than other similar focal length lenses.
Experimented a little bit tonight with some flash, being a fixed f8 it's a little bit more tricky to get the balance between ambient & flash, and get a natural looking exposure. Just takes a bit more tweaking and learning -not impossible.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with it at this point. I can see myself really really enjoying it, I do tend to agree with Panasonic's marketing in that all you really have to think about is framing up your shot, and hitting focus of course, set minimum shutter speed & auto ISO, point, twist & shoot. Great fun.Takes me right back to the little EF 40mm pancake on my 6D days it does
